Bayern Munich chief says Oliver Glasner was ‘very keen’ on joining but Crystal Palace ‘didn’t release him’
Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has claimed Crystal Palace didn't let Oliver Glasner leave to become their manager.
Glasner joined the Eagles in February to succeed Roy Hodgson and guided them to tenth in the Premier League after an impressive start to life at Selhurst Park.
Amid his impressive start, Bayern were revealed to be interested in signing the Austrian as their replacement for Thomas Tuchel.
However, Palace valued him at a whopping €100million [£84million] in order to keep hold of his services ahead of the summer.
Hoeness has since confirmed their attempts to bring Glasner to the club before the eventually appointment Vincent Kompany.
"We spoke with Glasner, who we also liked," he said via Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg.

"He was very keen on joining FC Bayern, absolutely keen. But his club did not release him, and FC Bayern is not all-powerful either."
Glasner won seven of his opening 13 matches in charge at Palace, with a 3-0 victory over Burnley coming in his first outing in the dugout.
They went unbeaten in their final seven games of the campaign, a run that included wins over Liverpool and Manchester United.
Among those to shine under Glasner was Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored an incredible 13 goals in as many appearances.
Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise also amassed a combined ten goals and six assists during that time as Palace shone in the final weeks.
However, they will head into the new campaign without the latter after he completed his move to Bayern earlier this month.
Olise joins manager Vincent Kompany at the German giants following a season in which they failed to win a trophy for the first time since 2012.
Palace on the other hand are preparing for their first full season with Glasner, but could be set for a further challenge to keep hold of him should he continue his success there.
