Arsenal's William Saliba was spared a brutal tearing apart by French newspaper L'Equipe and their notoriously savage player ratings.
However, talisman Kylian Mbappe was lambasted for his performance against Spain as France crashed out of Euro 2024 at the semi-final stage.
Saliba did well to hold his own, with the Arsenal star looking like a rock at the back against Spain's three-pronged attack of Lamine Yamal, Alvaro Morata and Nico Williams.
The defender has been formidable throughout the summer and has got a good shout to be included in the Euro 2024 team of the tournament when all is concluded.
L'Equipe seemed to recognise this, scoring a 6/10 - not bad considering how notoriously brutal they can be with their player ratings.
Mbappe, though, was savaged with a 3/10 rating despite his assist as he ended the tournament with one goal - a penalty against Poland. Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani scored 4/10.

And France legend Emmanuel Petit told talkSPORT why Mbappe has had such a shoddy Euro 2024 after the soon-to-be Real Madrid star admitted he had been below-par in his post-match press conference.
"He's the leader, he's the captain and he failed. Simple as that," the 1998 World Cup winner said. "I think that he had a terrible competition and an odd season with PSG, the first very difficult season he has had to face and he was honest.
"What can he say? Can he say something different? That is not possible, it was a pity to watch him on the pitch.
"Yesterday, he was playing without a mask and the first 20 minutes we played well and I thought maybe we will see the real Kylian Mbappe.
"But you could see during the whole competition, and it was the case the last six months at PSG, he doesn't play the same way he used to play when he began.
"He doesn't use his speed anymore, he just wants to receive the ball to his feet. He was physically over the top [against Spain].

"He was not ready for the fight, he was not ready to play and win the European competition, that is for sure.
"As a leader and as a captain, I think he has missed his responsibilities on the pitch but as well for his teammates."
Goalkeeper Mike Maignan and defender Dayot Upamecano both scored 4/10 in L'Equipe while Kounde was given a 5/10 but the worst rating was handed to Theo Hernandez, who was slammed with a 2/10.
France's midfield trio N'Golo Kante, Aurelien Tchouameni and Adrien Rabiot all scored 3/10 as Spain's Rodri, Olmo and Fabian Ruiz dominated in the middle of the pitch.
L'Equipe described Rabiot's attempts to close Yamal down for the goal like he had 'the feeling that his legs were cut off'.
France took the lead against Luis de la Fuente's men in the eighth minute when Randal Kolo Muani nodded in Mbappe's cross.
That was the first time the French had scored a goal from open play this competition - having netted two own goals and a penalty in their previous five matches.
But France's lead did not last long as Spain's 16-year-old prodigy Yamal curled in a jaw-dropping effort, that left Mbappe stunned, to score potentially the goal of the tournament, breaking two records in the process.
Dani Olmo then bagged his third goal of the competition with a dazzling piece of skill in the box as Jules Kounde could not keep his arrowed shot out.
And as Spain took the lead, they never looked like relinquishing it as Les Bleus failed to truly test Unai Simon.
Griezmann looked frustrated, Dembele proved ineffective and Mbappe simply could not step up like he has done for France in the past.
France boss Didier Deschamps was also torn to shreds with a 3/10 rating Les Bleus legend Petit insisted it might be time for a change on talkSPORT, saying: "This question was being asked right after the game.
"The shadow of Zinedine Zidane is coming back quickly, a lot of people in the press, a lot of fans are thinking that after 12 years, it is time for Deschamps to get out.
"I have a lot of respect for what Deschamps has done for the national team, he has reached so many finals and semi-finals and won medals.
"But I think we need something new, something different.
"A new manager, a new personality with a new vision with something different with the players on the pitch.
"Because a lot of players have not played and I know that some of them are very disappointed.

"It has been 12 years now. It is time for him to see something else and time for Zinedine Zidane to come in and take charge of the national team."
