And he has waved goodbye in the best possible fashion by helping Luis Enrique's men beat Lyon 2-1 on Saturday night at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

PSG went into the break 2-0 up thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz.

But Republic of Ireland youth international Jake O'Brien made it a nervy ending for the Ligue 1 champions after scoring a brilliant header in the 55th minute.

Lyon were unable to find the breakthrough, sparking jubilant celebrations from the PSG squad, who have added the French Cup to their league and Super Cup success this term.

And the players were quick to show their respect to France international Mbappe, who looks set to link up with Real Madrid this summer.

It is understood that the 2018 World Cup winner has verbally agreed to join Los Blancos, where he stands to earn £13million-a-year in Spain.

Following the full-time whistle, the PSG squad hoisted Mbappe in the air to pay respect to all that he has given to the club.

With a smile on his face, Mbappe looked overwhelmed by the wholesome moment, before he finally got his hands on the Coupe de France trophy for the fourth time.
