Microsoft’s IT outage has stopped Manchester United from going ahead with the club’s highly-anticipated ticket release.

Multiple industries across the globe have been affected by major disruptions to their IT networks, with Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike stating a ‘defect’ in one of its software updates hit Windows operating systems.

Transport, banks and shops are among the many sectors whose systems have been halted, and football clubs have been battling the issues too - including Man United.

The Red Devils had planned to release their tickets for the upcoming Premier League season on Friday morning.

However, this morning the club confirmed the sale would have to be pushed back until midday.

Man United have since stated the ticket sales will now go ahead on Monday July 22 instead.

A statement on Man United’s match day X account read: “Today's ticket release has been postponed until 10am on Monday 22nd July.

“This is due to ongoing technical issues caused by a global Microsoft Servers outage.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Manchester United’s ticket website remains unavailable at the time of writing.

Crystal Palace and Brentford are among the other Premier League clubs to state they have been experiencing similar issues.

Championship sides Middlesbrough and Coventry are also having difficulties.
