Vincent Kompany is reportedly targeting Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as one of his first new signings as Bayern Munich manager.
The former Burnley manager may have parted ways with the Premier League, but that has not stopped him eyeing up one of its top stars as he adapts to his new role.
According to The Mirror, Gomez's versatility has caught the eye of Kompany as he looks to bolster Bayern's defensive line.
Gomez is fresh off the back of making 51 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, the most in a single season in his career.
Outgoing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp played him at centre-back, left, back, right back and even in midfield throughout the season - a testament to the value he could add to Bayern.
Having not been capped for England since 2020, his recent performances have earned him a place back in Gareth Southgate's good books.

The Three Lions manager rewarded Gomez with a call-up to the Euro 2024 squad and the defender is currently in Germany, preparing for England's opening game against Serbia on Sunday 16 June.
But Kompany should not expect an easy ride in his quest to sign Liverpool's longest-serving current player - although talkSPORT reported in May that Gomez might well be open to a change next season.
The defender recently signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool keeping him at the club until 2027.
New Liverpool manager Arne Slot is expected to be extremely closed off to the idea of selling the 27-year-old given his crucial involvements last season.
Kompany may be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements, with Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill also on his radar - although the Blues do not look keen to sell either.
talkSPORT also understands that he has reignited Bayern's interest in Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.
