Harry Kane to miss pre-season reunion clash against Tottenham with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed Harry Kane will not be available for their pre-season clash against Tottenham.

The England captain left Spurs for the Bundesliga giants last summer, signing in a deal that could go up to £100million.

He went on to have a stunning debut campaign personally in Germany despite Bayern finishing third in the league.

He won the Bundesliga Golden Boot with 36 league goals and scored a whopping 44 times in 46 games in all competitions.

Kane then went on to net three goals for the Three Lions at Euro 2024, but having injured his back before the tournament, the striker was unfit and lacked his usual sharpness.

Now, Kompany has confirmed Kane will miss the opportunity to face Spurs in Seoul on August 3 as part of the Coupang Player series, as he provided team news ahead of the clash.

Speaking to the media on Monday, he said: “Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman won't be there, but then hopefully for the first cup game.”

Kane may have another opportunity to face his former club this summer though - and this time it will be at his old stomping ground, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham host Bayern on August 10 in a friendly clash.

It would mark the first time Kane has played in front of a Spurs home crowd since his final game there in April last year.

However, Kompany's comments suggest Bayern will prioritise ensuring Kane is available for their DFB-Pokal tie against Bundesliga 2 side Ulm.

The 30-year-old fired his way to being the club’s all-time top scorer during his 19 years at the club.

Bayern’s season gets back underway on August 16, as the German outfit take on SSV Ulm in the first round of the DFB Cup - and Kane will be looking to get back to his usual self on the pitch.

When asked if his back injury had an impact on his performances for England, Kane told BBC 5 Live after the loss to Spain: "No, it’s not time to talk about personal things.

"The tournament plays out in different situations. You deal with a lot as a player throughout these tournaments.

"Everyone is dealing with issues and you’re at your maximum physical capabilities and it was just the way the game panned out today and the way the tournament’s gone."
