Everton suffer embarrassing pre-season wardrobe malfunction as fans troll new Castore home kit

Everton's new partnership with Castore hasn't got off to the best of starts after their club badge fell off 30 minutes into their first game.

The Toffees were in action against Irish outfit Sligo Rovers at the The Sean Fallon Centre on Friday in an enthralling six-goal thriller which finished 3-3.

But while the Merseyside outfit fought back from 3-1 down to draw the match, it was their kit troubles that proved to be the biggest talking point.

Midway through the first half, the Everton crest on their new home shirt could be seen peeling off Idrissa Gueye's jersey.

It's safe to say it's not something you expect from the 'Pro' shirt, which is being sold for a whopping £110 in the club shop.

And it's not the first time this has happened to a Castore kit, with Bayer Leverkusen's badge falling off during a Bundesliga game last season.

Meanwhile Aston Villa fans are glad to see the back of the manufacturer following their 'wet-look' shirts last campaign, leading them to agree a deal with Adidas, with Newcastle also making the same switch.

Fans have been quick to troll Everton, who had already suffered a major headache earlier on Friday after The Friedkin Group pulled out of a potential takeover.

Taking to X, one user posted: "As a Villa fan all I can say is good riddance."

Another messaged: "Not a good day for Everton, lost a badge and a buyer on the same day."
