Hungary GP preview
Verstappen leads the Drivers Championship by 84 points after nine podium finishes and seven wins.
Hamilton secured his first GP victory since 2021 with a 1.465s lead over the Dutch champion, becoming a record-breaking ninth success at Silverstone.
But it's still Lando Norris who represents the best threat to Verstappen's reign, as the McLaren driver has 171 points, one win and seven podium finishes so far this season.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc is third in the 2024 standings with 150 points just ahead of teammate Carlos Sainz with 146 points, both with a victory each.
There's just one other driver with a GP victory this season, Hamilton's Mercedes teammate George Russell in a much more open campaign than before.
Now it's much tougher to predict who will come out in each race with the better car, drive etc with each GP that comes and goes this season.
And it's this reason it could be a turning point in the season if the likes of McLaren start to get some consistency.
Their new car was fast enough to help achieve a fast qualification in third place for starting grid behind Russell and Hamilton.
The adjustments they made to the rear wing issue also helped with high speeds and efficient corners, which will come in handy this weekend in Hungary.
Hungary GP betting tips
- Norris to win - 7/2
To win this race McLaren will need to be better than just speed though, which Red Bull always seem to handle.
As a result, it's no surprise to see Verstappen at 5/6 to win this outright and an even better price than Norris to get a podium finish.
5/6 for Verstappen to win last season would have been more than overpriced.
But this time around it's not value enough for the potential of more Red Bull problems, which McLaren can utilise.
