Jake Paul will come up against an ex-MMA fighter in Mike Perry, which is more than familiar territory.

The YouTube star has launched a career in boxing and currently holds a professional record of nine wins (six KOs) with one defeat.

Next on his hit-list is the latest former UFC fighter he will touch gloves with in 'Platinum' Perry this weekend, who also has a formidable record in bare-knuckle boxing.

But if Paul's form against fighters from a cage background is anything to go by, Perry could be in trouble.

His first foe from MMA came in April 2021, when he took on Ben Askren, who was primarily known for his wrestling skill set.

On the huge event, Paul delivered a spectacular highlight-reel KO which sent a real message to those wanting to fight him.

Askren was simply far from the level of Paul, even though he had only been boxing for two years, and found his breakthrough in the opening round.

Paul fired a jab at the guard before unleashing a booming right hand which left Askren stumbling to the canvas.

The former UFC star was left on his back, and the referee elected to halt the contest before Askren sustained any more damage.

It was the influencer who was left celebrating and he knew he had found a niche in the boxing world.

His next test came against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, who was known to have a higher level of striking than Askren.

And in their first meeting, Paul struggled to a split decision points win and even threatened to be stopped by the powerful puncher.

But Paul promised their rematch four months later would be a much different prospect, and it turned out to be exactly that.

In the most devastating KO of his career, Paul knocked Woodley out cold on the canvas with another ferocious right hand.

His rival was left faceplanted on the canvas, and it was yet another impressive display against a natural talent from MMA.

Paul next went in with arguably the greatest of the lot Anderson Silva in 2022, albeit the Brazilian was far from his prime.

And he dropped 'The Spider' with another crunching right hand, but this time he was unable to close the show.

Paul then lost to natural boxer Tommy Fury in his next outing afterwards in 2023, so decided to return to his pool of former MMA opponents.

He took on long-term rival Nate Diaz, who again had shown some impressive boxing skills during his time in the cage.

But Paul fought without fear and responded in style, dropping his rival en route to another comfortable win.

The 26-year-old has shown to carry an impressive record against those from a cage background, and Perry will know he has a real challenge on his hands.

Paul has a natural power and size advantage over his rival, and Perry has only had one previous fight in the traditional boxing ranks.

Bringing MMA fighters over to boxing is a technique that the YouTube star has perfected to give him fighting experience.

But Perry could be the toughest of them all, and could hinder his planned November 15 clash with Mike Tyson.

Despite Paul's imposing dominance against UFC veterans, Perry is insistent he has the skills to disarm Paul.

He said: "Maybe I’ll still be passionate after I beat on Jake, I want to TKO him or knock him out or just pummel him so bad in the corner.

"I’ll put so much pressure on him that he just has to take a knee and he’s like ‘damn, what am I going to do?’

"We’ll keep putting it on him and put the hooks on him and then get on that microphone and be p***ed off.

"Or I’ll be tired in the seventh or eight round and get that microphone and be like ‘hey man, thank you everybody for coming out’.

"I think about it all the time ‘what am I going to say to the people after I win?’ That’s what I think about all the time.

"I think I’ve earned this and I think I deserve it and I’m proud of that of myself.

"There’s work to be done, I have a lot of work to do, push-ups and miles to run and I’ve got to get this work in. Lots of sparring rounds to do."
