Physio bizarrely sent off for ‘never seen’ moment in Norwegian clash

Norwegian side Sarpsborg had their physio bizarrely sent off in a dramatic clash with SK Brann on Saturday.

The score was locked at 1-1 heading into the final five minutes of the game, but the game suddenly kicked into action when a physio found himself in the referee's book.

This was because the physio, Joao Ferreira, entered the field of play to treat a player without the official's permission.

Footage shows Ferreira pointing at the referee and protesting.

But the referee clearly wasn't happy with his comments, blowing his whistle at the physio as he ran towards his player.

The official then raised a red card at Ferreira, who could only laugh as he made his way off the pitch.

He then decided to turn around and walk back towards the referee, but multiple Brann players soon surrounded him.

Ferreira's Sarpsborg stars then ran in to pull them away from him.

The physio is then seen shaking his head as he made his way off the field.

"Never seen anything like this," one fan said on X when reacting to the sending off.

Play eventually continued, and Sarpsborg thought they had avenged their physio just minutes later.

Henrik Wendel Meister opened the scoring in the first minute of added time.

But Brann ensured they shared the spoils in the end, as substitute Aune Heggebo found the net at the death to make it 1-1 to round off a crazy closing 15 minutes.
